Joe Mahler is best-known as a fly fishing author/illustrator living in Fort Myers, Florida. His work appears in Fly Fisherman Magazine, Outdoor Life and other publications. Joe is also the author and illustrator of “Essential Knots & Rigs for Trout” and “Essential Knots & Rigs for Salt Water” (Stackpole Books). Through “Joe Mahler’s Freshwater Florida,” Joe instructs and coaches in some of the most beautiful Southwest Florida  locations. Joe’s easy-going approach and effortless casting style has made him a popular guest speaker at fishing clubs and sports shows.

Fly Cast Coaching at all levels

"I have become an avid fly fisherman, and love to fish both freshwater and saltwater.  But like all fly fishermen, I always feel that my casting could improve. Joe Mahler has improved my casting skills and confidence regardless of the weather conditions and/or species I am fishing for. I believe that Joe is one of those rare individuals who has the patience to teach newbies as well as having the technical skills and knowledge to help the most advanced fly casters.  Joe is able to show and explain what to do in an understandable way and tailors his message based on your individual learning style.  He is able to quickly see things that I can adjust to give me more accurate casts at longer distances.  He is always positive and his easy going style never makes you feel intimidated.  My casting has improved immensely and I am always confident when I get to the water.  If you want to improve your casting, Joe is the Man!"

In more than a dozen years of teaching fly casting, I have been fortunate to have coached students from every state in the US and many countries around the world. Working with people of all ages, skill levels and a variety of physical challenges. I have learned that all that is needed from a student is the desire to learn. Whether you are learning from scratch, perfecting your presentation, dialing in your double-haul or even developing a cast in excess of 100 feet, we will work together to build the skills necessary to meet your goals.
